Who am I
My name is Jan and I'm a developer. I spend most of my day staring at a monitor wondering why the code doesn't work (spoiler: usually a missing semicolon. Or it's not a semicolon and I debug it for another 3 hours).
How I got into OCR
A few years ago, I realized my back had its own opinion about 10+ hours of sitting daily. That opinion wasn't positive. I tried the gym, but lifting weights felt about as exciting as debugging CSS in Internet Explorer.
Then I discovered OCR races. For those who don't know - it's basically running where someone throws obstacles, mud, and occasionally fire under your feet. I finished my first race exhausted, dirty, and grinning ear to ear. My back? Happy for the first time in ages. Finally something that uses all muscles at once, not just the ones for clicking a mouse.
Since then, I race regularly and the best part - my back stopped complaining. So now I sit at the computer just as long, but at least I know that on weekends I'll drag it through the mud again.
